Use the Lakefront Trail or approach from the west through downtown Chicago. When arriving on the Lakefront Trail after 5 a.m., please cross under Lake Shore Drive at Randolph Street or at the Museum Campus and ride on Columbus Drive to the Start/Finish area.

For safety reasons, you will not be allowed to cross over Lake Shore Drive at Monroe Street, Jackson Boulevard, or Balbo Drive.

With CTA's Bike & Ride Program, you can take your bike on buses and trains. Visit www.transitchicago.com or call 1 (888) YOUR-CTA for specific instructions, system maps and schedules.

For the event, the CTA will temporarily relax its two-bikes-per-rail car restriction on May 25 from 3 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Please respect CTA operators if they need to limit the number of bicycles for passenger safety.

Please note that on the day of the event, Damen, Irving Park, Paulina and Wellington Brown Line stations will be closed due to the Brown Line reconstruction project. Visit http://ctabrownline.com for more information.

  • Red Line runs 24 hours
  • Blue Line runs 24 hours between O'Hare, downtown and Forest Park
  • Pink Line 54/Cermak branch runs its first train to downtown at 4:00 a.m.
  • Brown Line shuttles between Kimball and Belmont starting at 5:00 a.m. - Transfer to Red Line to downtown
  • The Orange Line starts running at 5:30 a.m. from Midway Airport

The Green Line and Purple Line do not run early enough to get you to The Bank of America Bike the Drive for the beginning of the event but still provides a travel option.

Each bus can accommodate two bicycles.

Metra trains do not run in the early morning hours of Bank of America Bike the Drive.

Want to drop someone off for the ride while you park?
Drop-offs will be allowed from 4 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Congress Circle at Michigan Avenue. See the map below for details:

Lake Shore Drive will be closed to car traffic at 5 a.m., so please approach Grant Park from downtown.

If you carry your bike on your car's roof, please be aware of parking garage heights.
